Summer some years ago, we were asked to design a shelving system for an avid vinyl collector. If you collect vinyl records, you know it’s nice to have partitions to organize your audio cache into categories: soul, jazz, hip hop, house and on and on. Once a grid was established for categories we wanted to continue the repetition of shape beyond the grid. We created a porthole void through each partition, playing with light and shadow. This system is very customizable (3X6, 2X7, and on and on). The Porthole Shelving System was originally designed for an audio lover, but it’s not just for vinyl records: it fits art books and whatever else you want to display.
