How do I place an order?

We make each piece of furniture custom to order here in the Pacific Northwest. The production of an order will take between 12 and 16 weeks. Once you checkout through our secure shopping cart you will receive a paid invoice by email. If you would like to ask questions about customization, shipping, or anything else, please get in touch before you place your order. Occasionally we have pieces ready to ship within a week or two: just drop us a line and ask. You can contact us directly by emailing us at questions@phloemstudio.com or call, M-F, 9-5 (PST) at 503 863 9980.

Do you offer a discount to the trade?

To apply for membership please download and complete our Trade Account Application and return to questions@phloemstudio.com. If you intend to purchase our furniture for resale, you will be required to provide your Resale or Sales Tax Certificate. After registering, you will be able to access our Trade Portal with discounted pricing, spec sheets, more material options, and digital file downloads for many of our pieces.

What are your lead times?

Our lead times vary slightly throughout our collection and range from 12 to 16 weeks. Lead times are subject to change. Lead time is defined as starting when the deposit payment is received, ending when the completed furniture is ready to ship. If you have any concerns regarding your timeline, it's best to get in touch.

Do you require a deposit?

We require payment in full at the time the order is placed. For trade customers only, in some circumstances we can extend a 50% down, 50% balance due before shipping payment arrangement. Please contact us to ask if you qualify.

What forms of payment do you accept?

You can pay by credit card using our secure shopping cart. If you prefer to pay by check please get in touch.

What shipping method do you use?

We only ship through reliable insured shipping companies. Your shipping cost will be calculated at the time of your order. At check out, you will have the option of choosing to have your furniture delivered curbside crated via freight or set in place in your home via white glove delivery. We will notify you by email about a week before your order ships out. Depending on your location, additional shipping charges may need to be paid before your order ships out. If you would like to ship your furniture internationally or have specific shipping requests, please contact us. If needed, we can store your furniture order after it is finished and before it ships for up to 14 days. After 14 days time, storage fees will incur.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping rates vary. If your furniture is shipping in the continental United States, it is safe to assume it will add 10% to 20% to the cost of the order. For all shipping quotes, we will need your full name, address, and phone number.

Do you accept returns?

Due to the custom, handcrafted nature of all of our furniture, we are not able to accept returns or offer exchanges. Once an order has been placed, it cannot be canceled. If your furniture was damaged in shipping transit, you must contact us immediately to file a claim at 503 863 9980. No claims can be made after 24 hours.

Is your furniture contract grade?

While all of our pieces are designed and built to last a lifetime of love and age gracefully in a residential setting, there are pieces in our collection that are very well suited for a commercial environment and can handle increased traffic. Our furniture has been specified for many different workplace and hospitality settings. We have also worked directly with interior designers and architects to design and build pieces specifically for their commercial project environments. Our shop can handle the demands of larger orders efficiently. Please get in touch and we can talk through your project's needs and answer any specific questions you may have.

Do you make custom furniture?

Many of the pieces within our collection are custom by nature in terms of material choice. Some pieces can be customized even further by requesting specific dimensions.  We also work with private clients and designers to create one of a kind heirloom pieces. Please contact us for more information and to obtain a quote.

Can I have wood and fabric (or leather or rope) samples mailed my way?

If you are interested in purchasing our furniture and would like to physically touch and see some material samples to help with your decision, you can place orders for individual samples on our Samples page.

Can you upholster PHLOEM chairs with fabric not listed on your website?

Yes, we can use your fabric or leather to upholster your future PHLOEM furniture. This is commonly called COM (Client's Own Material). If it is a material our upholsterer is not familiar with, we will need to approve a physical sample before moving forward. Cutting fees may apply. Please get in touch and we can discuss the next steps. If you have a Trade Account, each chair's product page has the COM yardage requirements listed once you log in.

Do you sell plans for your furniture?

We do NOT sell plans for our furniture or encourage or authorize any other craftsperson, factory, or hobbyist to make versions or reproductions of our furniture. We feed our bellies, pay our employees, pay our rent, and live our lives by selling original PHLOEM STUDIO furniture designs. We've put a whole lot of love, sweat, and tears into designing and building these furniture pieces and selling plans or authorizing reproductions would not allow us to live the humble creative lifestyle we have cultivated through years of hard work. Thanks for understanding.

Can I visit your studio?

Definitely! Our studio is located in the small river town of Stevenson, Washington in the Columbia River Gorge, about 45 minutes east of Portland, Oregon. It's absolutely beautiful out here and we'd encourage you to take a hike and absorb some nature while you're out here to visit. We are available to show you our woodshop by appointment only. While we love visitors, it is essential that you contact us ahead of time to schedule your visit.

Where can I see PHLOEM STUDIO furniture?

If you can't make it out to the Columbia River Gorge (we understand it's really far for most folks), our furniture is represented at an exceptional retail location in the United States.

FAIR, New York Design Center, 200 Lexington Ave, Suite 601, New York City, NY 10016

Does your furniture come with a warranty?

Absolutely. We stand behind the quality of our design and the skill of our craft. Should your PHLOEM STUDIO furniture fail because of workmanship or the failure of wood materials, we will repair or replace it within ten (10) years time in a residential setting and five (5) years time in a commercial setting. All upholstery materials, slings, straps and rope are warranted for five (5) years against material failure. This warranty does not cover abuse, use other than intended, alterations, environmental damages or improper storage. With proper care, PHLOEM STUDIO furniture will last beyond your lifetime.

Our commercial/contract grade warranties vary. Please contact us at questions@phloemstudio.com for more information.

How do I take care of my PHLOEM STUDIO furniture?

Wood is a natural product, and the grain and color will vary from piece to piece and throughout a single piece of furniture. We use a hand rubbed oil and urethane finish over most furniture. It is very durable, looks and feels fantastic, and proper care is required – use coasters on flat surfaces, clean with a cotton rag or soft paper towel.  A quality furniture polish or oil can be used occasionally. A conversion varnish or lacquer finish can be requested if necessary for an additional fee. Solid wood casegoods will naturally move slightly throughout the seasons like all quality hardwood furniture. Housing casegoods near direct heat such as radiators or directly over floor vents is not recommended. Do not leave audio or video equipment powered on behind closed doors over long periods of time – turn off your AV equipment when not in use. The sun will naturally patina your furniture wood over time. Leather is a natural product, and our slings and straps are lightly conditioned – they will scratch, wear, and tarnish gracefully over time. Periodic use of a quality leather conditioner is recommended. All fabrics supplied by Phloem Studio are Kvadrat wool blends – any spills should be treated immediately. Any COM or COL fabric should be approved by Phloem Studio before the project begins. All brass hardware is finished with wax – it will patina naturally over time. All poly rope and leather straps or slings will stretch slightly over time. Please get in touch if you would like more specific maintenance and care information.

With proper care, Phloem Studio furniture will last a lifetime.
